July 4
Boat Parade -- Come on Lipsett Lake!! – Let’s
get together to make this year’s July 4 Boat parade the biggest and best one
ever!!
The parade will
take place on July 5 at 1:00 p.m., and will travel clockwise (notice this is the
opposite direction of what was in a previous note about the parade) starting
and ending at the outlet, and turning back on it’s route at the end of the
parade so that participants can see the other boats.
You can decorate
your boat for the Most Patriotic or the Most Original. There will be 1st, 2nd
place winners for each division. Everyone is welcome to join in the boat
parade, whether you decorate your boat or not,
but only Current Lake Association members are
eligible for prizes – you can click on the current members page on the right side of this page
to make sure you are current. If not, just send a check for $25, payable to
Lipsett Lake Association, to Don Loftus at 26610 Brede Lane, Spooner, WI.
You must be in the parade from start to finish to be
eligible to win.
You also must have your
boat number on the left side of the boat to win. (that’s the only way judges
know who you are). If you don’t know your boat number, click on click on the Boat Numbers Page on the right side of this page
to find it. If you don’t find it there, contact me at pkloftus@centurytel.net and I’ll send
it to you. If you are not a Lake Association Member, please don’t put number on
your boat so that the judges won’t include you in the contest by
mistake.
Pam Loftus will be taking
pictures of the boats as they pass by the Loftus house (it will have a little
Uncle Sam on the dock to make it easier for you to identify). If you can get a
little closer as you pass by, and maybe wave and/or smile, she can get some
better pictures.
About 30 minutes
after the boat parade ends there will be a tie-up party on the lake (everyone is
welcome) – the exact location depends on the wind, so just look for a flotilla
of boats tied up together somewhere on the lake and join the party. Please
bring your own beverages and a snack to pass – finger foods work
best.
Greg needs some volunteers to be
judges. It’s actually a fun family and/or guest activity if you aren’t planning
to be in the parade. Contact him at gjheber@me.com if you’re interested.
