Fall 2021 Lake association meeting minutes

Lipsett Lake Association Fall Meeting 2021

September 4, 2021

The general meeting of the Lipsett Lake Association was called to order by the President, Mark Hansen, at 9:00 am at the Lipsie Pines Tavern.  Approximately 35 members were in attendance.

Committee Reports

Membership—Carolyn Schlitter:

A letter was sent out to new people on the lake. Right now we have 70% membership. Six of those are lifetime memberships. If you know of any new people on the lake please give their contact information to Carolyn.

Nominating Committee—Doug Mulville:

The Board of Directors names are on the blog site. It includes 3 directors, a president, a vice president, treasurer, secretary. Is anyone interested in the vice president position? Lisa Hansen is willing to step down. Please contact Doug if you are interested.

Fundraising—Aaron Temple:

The lake has been remapped. It can be printed out and laminated and sold for a fundraiser.

Dock out will be October 16.  Price will be $2/foot for dock and $100 for any boat lifts. If you are interested in helping please contact Aaron.

$2600.00 was made from Dock in last Spring.

Aaron is still selling tumblers and koozies. If anyone has any other fundraising ideas please contact Aaron Temple.

Treasurer’s report—Mark Schlitter:

We have $51,700 in checking account. Will apply for grant money again $3000. Motion to approve financial report by Sally Nelsen and seconded by Charlie Edwards.

Lake Management—Bob Baker:

Our boat landing monitor Kathy’s last weekend is Labor Day weekend. She has written up 3 people this season for not spraying their boats.  One of them was fined $150.00. Fishing is down this year so that means there is less external pressure on the lake. There was some vandalism at the boat landing earlier this summer. The boat sprayers were stolen and the pamphlets thrown all around.

Purple loose-leaf came back. Bob Baker and Chuck Edwards sprayed it.

Zebra Mussels—There are 4 plate samplers out on lake that still do not have any. Please look for them as you take your boats and docks out this fall. Zebra Mussels look like praying hands.

The well for the power washer at the boat landing was drilled in June. Tom Boehne and Bob and Ruth Baker took down some trees. The power is there.  A concrete pad is still needed for the well. A pump and pressure tank were purchased, but still need to hook up well to pump and pressure washer. The new pressure washers to spray boats will hopefully be running by May or June of 2022. $10,400 has been spent so far. Chris Snyder made a motion to approve up to $12,000 for well expenses. Charlie Edwards seconded it.

There were some 4-wheelers that spun around on the lake landing and tore up the ground.  Some trucks got stuck and Bob Baker had to level out the ground. There was discussion of possible security cameras at the boat landing. It was tabled for now.

Social aspects of the Lake Association were discussed. There was no corn and brat feed this year, and the last Christmas party had very few people attending. There used to be an ice fishing contest. Mark Kronlund will look into the possibility of having one this winter.

We would like to welcome Andy & Becky Lange to the lake. They were first time attenders to the meeting.

Aaron Temple talked about boating safety on the lake. There was a specific incident where there were 4 jet skiers dodging behind a boat after sunset. It is against the law to operate a PWC such as a jet ski between sunset and sunrise.  Aaron talked to the people on these jet skis and warned them of this.  The next step will be to call the Sheriff. Chris Snyder will put link to Wisconsin Boating Laws on the blog. It was also suggested to put pictures and actual boating accidents on blog site. Chris will put articles on healthcare costs of accidents like needing a helicopter to transport accident victims. Please be aware of boating safety! We do not want accidents on our lake!

A question was asked to Bob Baker about why he thought the lake greened up earlier this year. He answered that it was probably because the lake temperature heated up earlier this year due to the warm weather we had in June.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:44am.

Report is submitted by Ellen Major for Mari Yell.
