Ice Out on Lipsett Lake

I received an email today asking if I was going to post ice-out pictures of the lake.  He said it was very helpful last year (I was glad to hear that since I had such fun doing it).  And he asked if the ice had started to honeycomb this year.

Now, I don't exactly know what honeycombing is, but my smartaleck answer to him was that I couldn't see the ice because of the 7.5 inches of snow that are on top of it.  I forgot to mention the foot of snow that was below the new snow, which is now 10 inches  -- at least -- and it's still coming down -- at least ten inches at this point.

Anyway, I'm happy to post the first ice out pictures for this year -- probably once a week when there are chanags.  This is the first of those posts:                     Scroll down for future posts.

These are whiskey barrels by the way

I can't get close enough to actually take a picture of the lake without putting on my mucluks, but this should give an idea to all the lucky people who are not here to witness the worse winter we've had in years.

The weatherman says it's supposed to warm up considerably in the next few days,
so maybe it won't be July before we see ice out.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, now that the snow has started to melt (it was 70 degrees today)
we can finally see that ice out has started,
but we still have a long way to go.
Anyone want to bet if it will be out by Fishing Opener?
No money involved,
just send me your name and the date you think it will be out
and I'll add the names of those who want to guess to this post.

The ice is moving, it's raining, and the temperature is in the upper 30s
Don's betting ice out will be sometime this week.
