Lipsett Lake Association Spring Meeting Highlights
1. Dave Ferris, County Conservationist, spoke about boat monitoring. He reported that the Northwest Wisconsin Concentrated Employment Program, which assists people in getting jobs and helps with training, has found people to monitor the boat landing this year. They will handle recruiting, salary, Social Security, etc., for the people who work the landing. Lipsett Lake is a prototype that will hopefully be used on other lakes in the future.
2. The Northwest Lakes Conference will be at Spooner High School this year on June 21. The Association agreed to provide $200 to send people to the meeting. Contact Bob Baker at robert.w.baker@uwrf.edu or 715-635-3882 if you would like to attend. 3. Creel Survey -- You will be seeing some DNR activity on the lake this year. Brian from the DNR will be doing the survey. He is not here to enforce anything only to gather information. Every Walleye Lake has a creel survey regularly. Lipsett Lake is on a 3-year cycle and this is our year for the survey.
4. Children’s Fishing Contest -- Megan Bauer has volunteered to take over the Children’s Fishing contest. I’ll let you know what she has planned when I know it but in the meantime - send Megan the name and age of the child, the kind of fish and the length (send to mdegrio98d@gmail.com ) and, if possible, send a picture of the child with the fish to Pam Loftus at pkloftus@centurytel.net (the picture is not required to enter the contest - it’s just fun to see the pictures of the kids with their fish on the blog).
5. Calendar Photo Contest -- Send your entries for the 2013 Photo Contest to Pam Loftus at pkloftus@centurytel.net in the highest resolution possible. If you take several pictures of the same thing, please pick out the one you think is best to enter into the contest. We have two volunteers to help proofread this year so that I won’t accidentally put the wrong photographer’s name with a picture like I did on one picture last year.
