Since this was Greg Heber’s last meeting as President, he wanted to encourage the Association to:
Stay vigilant on boat monitoring. He said that Zebra mussels will come to this lake if we don’t monitor.
Membership:
The Membership Committee is going to begin canvassing the lake for new members.
Fundraising, Tanya Ives:
- Dock in and Dock out is a huge part of our fundraising. The date for docks out this year is October 6 and we need volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, call Tanya Ives at 612-554-0570 Volunteers take in and/or out docks for $2 per foot. $50 to take out a lift. Money goes directly back to the association. Call Tanya if you would sign up to have your dock and/or lift taken out.
- Calendars: This past year we sold 50 calendars. We will be selling them again this year but WE NEED MORE PICTURES! The deadline for submitting pictures is October 27. Takes about a month to design the calendar and get it printed. Call Tanya at 612-554-0570 if you would like to order calendars. If you get her answering machine, leave your name, address, phone number and number of calendars you would like to orders. You can pick them up at the Christmas Party or she will mail them to you for at extra $5 for shipping Calendars will also be on sale at the Christmas party.
Since it had been 5 years since the aquatic plants in Lipsett Lake were mapped, three volunteers mapped curly leaf in June (Doug Mulville, Greg Heber, and Bob Baker). They found a few new spots on eastern shoreline and one along the northwestern shore. The mapping will be done again in about 2 years and, at that time, we may talk to the Association for remedies. Brad Morris, Burnett County Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist, came back in late July, re-mapped the lake and did not find any Eurasian water milfoil but the complete report has not been received.
- Purple loosestrife update: This year the amount of purple loosestrife along the southwestern shoreline was greatly reduced from previous years, so it appears we are getting the better of it in that area. A new outbreak, however, occurred along the northeastern shore.
- Boat Monitoring: Since we started monitoring only 33 of the possibly 100 properties were represented. This leaves almost 70 properties around the lake who did not participate. Bob suggested it might be good to hire students for fishing opener and July 4 weekend. Mark Hanson will check with his attorney to find out of we would have any liability if a student worker were injured. The Association authorized $1,000 per year to pay people to monitor the landing for busy weekends. Bob Baker will contact Brad Morris to see if he can line up an enthusiastic, enterprising young person to assist us next summer.
Address Update, Pam Loftus Please send me any address or phone or email address changes. If you would like another person in your family to receive notices of the Blog Updates (wife, son, daughter, co-owner), please send that information to Pam Loftus atpkloftus@centurytel.net.
Loon Report, Donna Twining: We had one new baby this year. We had a report that there were young teenagers harassing loons with jet skis. There were also young children driving a boat directly into the geese. If anyone knows who these kids are, please talk to them. This is illegal.
Social Calendar: Christmas Party - Saturday, December 1 at Lipsett Pines Tavern. The cost will be $25-$30 for food includes tip. There will be a $10 gift exchange. More details will be coming as the date gets closer -- but mark your calendar now!! Next year Greg would like to get a golf Men’s and Women’s golf tournament together for Lipsett Lake. From the show of hands at this meeting, it looks like there would be a great deal of interest.

Linda Beal Director
Greg Past President

New Business: There was a discussion about fireworks beginning too early in the evening and continuing too late at night. It was also mentioned that many of them are too big and illegal and that they were lasting during the entire summer season instead of just July 4 weekend. The suggestion was made to call the Sherriff and he will come out and talk to the people participating in these activities.
