Purple Loosestrife
update: While we were mapping curly
leaf pondweed we noticed what appeared to be the distinctive showy flowers of
purple loosestrife along the southwest shoreline. These will have to be checked out and if
indeed loosestrife has reappeared, it will be removed and sprayed. If anyone observes what they think might be
purple loosestrife along any Lipsett Lake shoreline, please contact Greg Heber,
any of the Lake Association officers/board members, or Bob Baker so that it can
be checked out.
Clean Boats Clean
Waters boat launch monitoring: We
are still in need of a number of volunteers to staff the public access the
weekend of June 30-July 1 and July 7 and 8.
Shifts are two hours, but this is a wonderful way to help protect our
lake from the introduction of additional invasive aquatic species beyond the
two we already have: purple loosestrife and curly leaf pondweed. If you have never worked the public landing
before, just arrive a few minutes early and the people working the shift before
you will gladly train you in. To sign up
to work, just access the sign-up sheet through the Lipsett Lake Blog.
Northwest Lakes
Conference: The NW Lakes was held
June 22 at Spooner High School. Linda
Beal, Grace Huth, Jon Huth, Greg Heber, Ruth Baker, and Bob Baker
attended. Their reports on the informative
sessions they attended will be appearing in the Association Blog shortly.
