PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Greg Heber
Greg reported that five members of the Lipsett Lake Association attended the Northwest Lakes Conference this summer. They learned that it is not a matter of “if” Lipsett Lake gets Milfoil, but “when”. He said that Gilmore Lake wrote a rapid response program before they got milfoil and were able to identify and act on the problem before it became serious. Lipsett Lake’s Lake Management Committee will be putting together a Rapid Response Program this year.
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Tim Beardon
No Report
CHILDREN’S FISHING CONTEST:
Labor Day was the last day for the children‘s fishing contest, but you can still send in pictures of your children fishing, or just having fun in the lake. We will include them on the Children‘s Fishing Contest Page on the right side of the Home Page of the Blog..
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE REPORT: Tanya Ives
Dock-Out
We will once again be holding the dock-out fund raiser. This has been our most successful Lipsett Lake fund raisers! If you haven't participated in the past, now is the time!
Dates: September 24th and October 8th
Cost: $2 per foot and $50 for a boat lift
How: Sign up by contacting me at tanya.ives@philips.com or cell phone 612-554-0570. Please let me know your name, a telephone number I can reach you at, and the date you would like us to take out your dock. A homeowner should be present while your dock is being taken out. I will call you prior to your dock out date to let you know the approximate time we will be at your place.
Why: This is a great way to donate to the Lipsett Lake Association! Why pay someone else (if you figure it out you are probably paying quite a bit more!) ….why suffer the sore muscles (let the volunteers do that!)……put the money back into your lake!!
NOTE: I STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU CAN HELP OUT. IT'S A GREAT WAY TO GET SOME EXERCISE AND WE USUALLY HAVE SOME ADULT BEVERAGES AFTERWARDS!!
50/50 Raffle
The 50/50 raffle was held again during this years corn and brat feed. We raised $256.00, Peyton Ray was the winner of half that amount and the other half was used to help pay the band.
Calendar Photo Contest:
We received amazing feedback regarding the first 2011 Lipsett Lake Calendar and sold all 50 that were ordered! So, we are planning on another calendar for 2012. That means you need to keep taking those photos, dig through the ones you already have and get them submitted! Photos can be submitted to Pam Loftus at pkloftus@centurytel.net. Please send the photos as an attachment, at the highest resolution you have, and note who took the photo. The last day for photo submission is October 22nd. Calendars will be $20 each and available for purchase at the Lipsett Lake Holiday Party on December 3rd. If you won't be able to make the holiday party and would like to have your purchased calendar(s) mailed to you please contact Tanya Ives at tanya.ives@philips.com or 612-554-0570, include your full name and address. I will contact you with the total cost, calendar- $20.00 plus shipping.
I have already received 23 pre orders…..so get those pictures in and place your orders. They make wonderful Christmas gifts!!
MEMBERSHIP: Tim Beardon
Current Members of Lipsett Lake Association are listed on the "Current Members Page" on the right-hand side of this page. To check to see if you are current with your dues, please click on that page. The number following your name indicates the year you are paid through. This list will be updated regularly -- the date of the last update will be at the top of the page. If your name is NOT on this list, it means that we do not have you marked as current as of the last update. If you have any questions regarding your membership, please call Doris Perry at 715-635-2454.
LAKE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE: Bob Baker
Bob asked for more people to sign up to help monitor the landing. It’s an easy job, and only a 2-hour commitment whenever you sign up. Right now we are monitoring the landing on Fishing Opener, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends.
Bob asked everyone who thinks they might have loosestrife to contact him at robert.w.baker@uwrf.edu and he will come out to identify it and dispose of it. Please do not do this yourself -- you may accidentally make the problem worse by spreading seeds and not killing existing plants.
There are a group of people who attended an aquatic plant identification meeting in Siren and had a second meeting on the lake for on-site identification. Members of this group are learning to identify plants so that we can map the lake ourselves.
BRAT AND CORN FEED: The party started as scheduled and attendance was good. The brats and corn and the pot luck were all wonderful!! (Thanks to Jon and Grace Huth for donating the brats and buns.) Unfortunately, just as the band was getting tuned up, it started to rain causing the band to move quickly into the garage and some people to leave the party early. However, the band did play in the garage and those who were able to stay had a great time.
JULY 4 PARADE - Greg Heber
We had 25 boats in the parade this year.
The winners were:
First Place Most Patriotic, Greg Heber
Second Place Most Patriotic, Bruce and Linda Nelson
First Place Most Original, Jon and Grace Huth
Second Place Most Original, Tom and Donna Twining
